Pumpkin Patch at Aplin Farms

This past weekend the whole family loaded up and headed for the pumpkin patch for the petting zoo, corn maze and hay rides.

We started with the corn maze...

Off they go!
Photobucket

EG thought we were lost...just look at that face!
Photobucket

Dad came in and saved the day. She felt much better with dad near by.
Photobucket

Then it was off to the hay ride.
Photobucket

Off they go again....that's right, EG is barefoot.
Photobucket

The perfect pumpkin.
Photobucket

Load it up.
Photobucket

???
Photobucket

I love that they have the sunflower field too. We took home a huge bunch!
Photobucket

With pumpkins and sunflowers in tow we headed back.
Photobucket

Deep in thought...or hot and tired?
Photobucket

We enjoyed a picnic lunch.
Photobucket

I don't think honey wanted his picture taken.
Photobucket

Nope. He didn't. :-)
Photobucket

We stopped by the petting zoo after lunch.
Photobucket

These were the "lickinest" goats I've ever seen. EG thought it was great!
Photobucket

One last stop at the farmers market before heading home.

Autumn Leaves

This painting is the first in a series of four paintings that Abigail wants to do. She is going to paint leaves from all four seasons. I love fall...I'm not sure she's going to be able to "beat" this one.

Getting started.
Photobucket

I know it's tough to see but it won't be for long.
Photobucket

Here comes the color...
Photobucket

We had to move this little project out to the porch. Oil painting projects can be stinky.
Photobucket

I took this picture at the end of the third hour.
Photobucket

(-:
Photobucket

I love it when EG comes to watch.
Photobucket

She was really into this one.
Photobucket

I think Abigail was enjoying having her sister watch.
Photobucket

Putting on the final touches.
Photobucket

Done.
Photobucket

Signed and hung.

Bio Poem

The self portrait.

Photobucket

The poem.

Abigail

Artistic, flexible, knowledgeable, kind

Sister of Elizabeth

Lover of animals, friends, and card games

Who feels happy outside, nice swimming, and uneasy around snakes

Who needs to be active, to stay cool, and time outside

Who gives my mom help, my sister presents, and my friends treats

Who fears spiders, snakes, and strangers

Who would like a computer, a scooter, and more friends

Field Trip

Today we had the first field trip of the school year. EG's school took us to the petting zoo in New Brockton. This is the second visit for us and we've enjoyed it both times.

Photobucket

Sitting for a little snack and drink before we got started. Look at them, like mother like daughter! I love the expressions...
Photobucket

EG liked the sheep.
Photobucket

The cow milking was interesting....
Photobucket

Layla liked the goat but got a little frustrated when it wouldn't eat.
Photobucket

They also had horses, peacocks, pigs, and roosters...but none of that mattered when EG saw these.
Photobucket

We spent the rest of our visit with the chicks.
Photobucket

Ohhhhh the excitement!
Photobucket

Ahhh finally!
Photobucket

Sweet chick.
Photobucket

Look mom!
Photobucket

Daddy even got to come for a while. This was the saying good bye part...
Photobucket

We had a lot of fun.

The Perfect Gift

Today the girls and I went to Alek's 2nd birthday party. Staying with the pirate theme, red and black were the colors of the day.

Photobucket

Melissa did a great job with the cake. Her husband usually makes them but she was on her own for this one.

Fabulous job!
Photobucket

Alek was sleeping when the party started. Mom got him up...before he was ready.
Photobucket

It wasn't long before he was up and about enjoying the party.
Photobucket

Melissa's husband, Ben, has been in Iraq for the last 8 months. Today is a special celebration, not just for little Alek, but Ben is supposed to make it home in time for the birthday party.

Melissa had signage for both her boys.
Photobucket

The party was in full swing when she got the call to head out and pick Ben up.

Photobucket

She and Megan crept out the back door to pick him up so Lacie and Alek wouldn't know what was going on.

Really sneaky.
Photobucket

Mom "letting the kids answer the door"
Photobucket

No need for words....
Photobucket

They were sooooo happy to have daddy home. Look at that smile on Lacies face.
Photobucket

:-)
Photobucket

Cake.
Photobucket

Gifts.
Photobucket

"Here honey, hold this string and stand on this chair"....
Photobucket

A wonderful celebration....thanks MW! We had a blast! And welcome home Ben!
